After years of campaigning, no-fault divorce is set to become reality after the Divorce, Dissolution and Separation Bill received Royal Assent in June 2020.
The biggest change to divorce laws in our lifetime now means separating couples will no longer have to assign blame in order to be granted a divorce.
This gives us a far better chance of helping couples to resolve the consequences of their relationship breakdown with minimal conflict.
This is a huge achievement for Resolution which is the organisation which was involved working closely with ministers and officials at the Ministry of Justice to ensure the legislation passed.
Resolution is a community of family justice professionals including solicitors who work with families and individuals to resolve issues in a constructive way.
Resolution was founded in 1982 by a group of family lawyers who believed that a non-confrontational approach to family law issues would produce better outcomes for separating families and their children. All our family lawyers are members of Resolution.

There are going to be a number of changes to rules, procedures and forms that will be necessary as no-fault divorce is implemented.
This will take time, but it is hoped that no-fault divorces will start to take place in April 2022.
We shall keep our client’s and followers updated as the new information becomes available.
In the meantime, if you would like to speak to one of our experienced family lawyers, please do call us on 01823 251571 and ask to speak to either Amanda or Kris for further information relating to divorce, finances and children matters.
